The Mondays: We still can confirm that it is December

San Diego Chargers 20 - Dallas Cowboys 17- ROMO ALERT: It's still December. But let's at least acknowledge that the Cowboys do have a tough schedule for their final three games (which included the Chargers on Sunday).

They get the undefeated Saints next, who are still fighting for that homefield advantage, Washington, who always gives them a rough time and they get Philly, who will no doubt be gunning for the NFC East. The Cowboys could win one of those two, but a lot of people aren't putting it past them to keep the losing streak going. We'll see what happens on Saturday night.

New England Patriots 20 - Carolina Panthers 10- It seems all the talk is about Randy Moss. Is he done in New England? Some Panther players think Moss"shut it down". It's possible, but with the year the Patriots have had, this could just be one of those years where nothing goes right. It's been a frustrating year for the Patriots.

A lot of people are speculating that the Pats are peaking. I don't know for sure. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Pats go out next week and put up 50 against Buffalo. Then again, they could lose by 3 late, as well.

Miami Dolphins 14 - Jacksonville Jaguars 10- With the win on Sunday in Jacksonville, Miami needs to parlay this into three more wins and hope Jacksonville and Baltimore falter to get the sixth spot in the AFC Wild Card. They have Tennessee, Houston and Pittsburgh. A lot hinges on what Baltimore does though. Jacksonville still holds the sixth spot, but they have Indy, New England and Cleveland. I wouldn't be surprised if Jacksonville lost all three games.

Baltimore Ravens 48 - Detroit Lions 3- The Ravens need to win out, but they have a decent shot to get that sixth spot. The Ravens get Chicago (great another loss for my guys), Pittsburgh and Oakland (spoiler alert).

Sunday Night Recap: Philadelphia Eagles 46 - New York Giants 38- The Eagles lead in the East. Meanwhile, the Giants are in danger of falling out of the playoff race for good this season. Philly gets San Francisco, Denver and Dallas.

Two out of three (one of them being a Dallas win) should give the Eagles the NFC East. The Giants need to beat Washington (road), Carolina, and Minnesota (2nd seed). They could potentially win out, but Dallas is the wild card (no pun intended) for the rest of the season.

NFL Preview Show Extravaganza: New England Patriots

With the exception of two teams in the NFC, we're done. Don't worry, we'll do the Packers and the Bucs eventually. I only ask that you stay patient. In the mean time, we turn our attention towards the AFC. This week, we focus on the AFC East. Today, our attention is turned to the AFC champions, the New England Patriots.

It's hard to believe that the 2007 Patriots were one win away from finishing the season (both regular and post) undefeated. Had the Patriots not lost the Super Bowl to the New York Giants, no doubt people would be speaking of the Pats as though they were the greatest team of all time.

Everybody would view them under a favorable light. Tom Brady might possibly be declared the best quarterback of our time and maybe of all time. Randy Moss would make his presence felt in the future among the voters in Canton. Bill Belichick would have silenced all the critics from the Spygate controversy. Had the Patriots won, who knows what we would be saying now.

The Patriots open up the 2008 regular season at home when they face the Kansas City Chiefs. At home, the Patriots will face Arizona, Pittsburgh and Denver. On the road, the Pats will face Indy, San Francisco, San Diego and Seattle.

The Best of the Mondays: Week 1

I've finally decided to do this after months and months of promises. I'm doing the best of the Mondays, my own Monday morning analysis of the week's games. Today, we go back to week one of the 2007 regular season. I'll give my own analysis of my analysis. Sounds stupid, doesn't it? I'll have my present day thoughts in italics.

My oh my how the time passes. Tony Romo picked apart the eventual Super Bowl champions. Kevin Everett's career and life were uncertain after his injury during the kickoff against Denver. Also, the Patriots destroyed the Jets in their first game of the regular season. (NOTE: The whole Spygate controversy started the afternoon that this post was made). • New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is certainly having fun with his new offensive weapons. His new three new wide receivers combined for 263 yards. Randy Moss led the team with 183 yards and one touchdown- Did Mangini get the last laugh?
  
  New York Jet fans were cheering Kellen Clemons as he came into the game, replacing injured Chad Pennington. What is up with that?- No it had to be the hoodie!
  
  How about that Ellis Hobbs, 108-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, longest in NFL History. Big props to Hobbs!- Woo, Ellis Hobbs!
  
  
• The Chicago Bears lost to the San Diego Chargers 14-3. I am disappointed. They held LaDainian Tomlinson to 25 yards on the ground. The Bears offense needs to improve, or heads will roll- The Chargers were up and down early on, but they stuck it out and made it to the AFC title game.
  
  
• A big congratulations goes out to Houston Texans defensive end, Mario Williams, scoring his first touchdown on a fumble recovery. Way to go man. By the way, the Texans defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, 20-3- Who knew that the Texans would be a big surprise in the NFL that season? Not I!
  
  
• Condolensces go out to Buffalo Bills tight end Kevin Everett, who is recovering from surgery this morning after a helmut-to-helmut collison left him unconscious. Hopefully, it is nothing serious, but definitely keep him in your thoughts and prayers- I'm glad he made it through and is now walking again.
  
  
• ROMO ALERT: Tony Romo shined on Sunday Night (is Football Night), throwing for 345 yards and four touchdowns. The Cowboys won the game 45-35. It was definitely a great way to end a great Sunday- A lot of questions came up in regards to the competency of the Giants. Hindsight now tells us differently.
  
  
• Monday Night Picks: I'm picking the Baltimore Ravens over the Cincinnati Bengals and the San Francisco 49ers over the Arizona Cardinals- I went 1-1 on that night in case you forgot
