The Mondays: We still can confirm that it is December

San Diego Chargers 20 - Dallas Cowboys 17- ROMO ALERT: It's still December. But let's at least acknowledge that the Cowboys do have a tough schedule for their final three games (which included the Chargers on Sunday).

They get the undefeated Saints next, who are still fighting for that homefield advantage, Washington, who always gives them a rough time and they get Philly, who will no doubt be gunning for the NFC East. The Cowboys could win one of those two, but a lot of people aren't putting it past them to keep the losing streak going. We'll see what happens on Saturday night.

New England Patriots 20 - Carolina Panthers 10- It seems all the talk is about Randy Moss. Is he done in New England? Some Panther players think Moss"shut it down". It's possible, but with the year the Patriots have had, this could just be one of those years where nothing goes right. It's been a frustrating year for the Patriots.

A lot of people are speculating that the Pats are peaking. I don't know for sure. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Pats go out next week and put up 50 against Buffalo. Then again, they could lose by 3 late, as well.

Miami Dolphins 14 - Jacksonville Jaguars 10- With the win on Sunday in Jacksonville, Miami needs to parlay this into three more wins and hope Jacksonville and Baltimore falter to get the sixth spot in the AFC Wild Card. They have Tennessee, Houston and Pittsburgh. A lot hinges on what Baltimore does though. Jacksonville still holds the sixth spot, but they have Indy, New England and Cleveland. I wouldn't be surprised if Jacksonville lost all three games.

Baltimore Ravens 48 - Detroit Lions 3- The Ravens need to win out, but they have a decent shot to get that sixth spot. The Ravens get Chicago (great another loss for my guys), Pittsburgh and Oakland (spoiler alert).

Sunday Night Recap: Philadelphia Eagles 46 - New York Giants 38- The Eagles lead in the East. Meanwhile, the Giants are in danger of falling out of the playoff race for good this season. Philly gets San Francisco, Denver and Dallas.

Two out of three (one of them being a Dallas win) should give the Eagles the NFC East. The Giants need to beat Washington (road), Carolina, and Minnesota (2nd seed). They could potentially win out, but Dallas is the wild card (no pun intended) for the rest of the season.

I went 4-1 last week, completely missing on the Tampa upset. I am now 50-19 for the season. I'll make only four picks this week and they will all be upsets.

Tampa Bay over New York (Jets)- It's Tampa at home and Kellen Clemons starts for the Jets.

Cincinnati over Minnesota- The Bengals will be fighting for the second seed up until the end of the season. The loss to the Cardinals could mean the Vikings are hitting the wall.

Buffalo over Kansas City- Would you believe the Bills have scored three more points this season than the Chiefs?

San Diego Chargers over Dallas Cowboys- It is December, ya know!

The Mondays: San Diego proves they're a good team

San Diego Chargers 32 - Denver Broncos 3- The Chargers are indeed one of the hottest teams in the AFC. They wanted to make a statement and they did it. The Chargers are hot, the Broncos are not. All of the sudden after their 6-0 start, the Broncos have lost four straight. Denver gets the Giants for Thanksgiving. If the Broncos lose in the Meadowlands on Thursday night, then don't expect them to win the West.

Detroit Lions 38 - Cleveland Browns 37- These are two teams that actually put up points. Matthew Stafford and Brady Quinn had big games today. Stafford threw for 422 yards and five touchdowns, including the game winner as time expired.

Dallas Cowboys 7 - Washington Redskins 6- The Cowboys didn't look very good on Sunday. Then again, who really did look good out of the East on Sunday?

Oakland Raiders 20 - Cincinnati Bengals 17- The Bengals had to stumble at some point. They're good, but not that good.

SUNDAY NIGHT RECAP: Philly defeats Chicago- I cursed when the game ended and I'll probably curse for the rest of the week. I don't even want to put in the score, that's how unhappy I am. I just can't bring myself to talk about this game.

MONDAY NIGHT PREDICTION: Houston over Tennessee. (NOTE: I will not be tweeting this game, so you'll have to make your own Gruden jokes.)

Tuesdays with Romo: Floating doesn't get Chargers the win

Denver Broncos 34 - San Diego Chargers 23- This game was close until the end. The questionable Stokely touchdown catch in the fourth quarter did prove to be the difference.

Big props to Denver's Eddie Royal though! He returned a punt and kick return for a touchdown, last night. Darren Sproles for the Chargers returned a punt return for a touchdown. The two punt returns and one kick return was a first for the NFL.

Philip Rivers had 270 float yards with a float touchdown pass in the game.

So now the Broncos are 6-0. I totally biffed on this prediction. I had the Broncos going 4-12, just like Rick Reilly. I was once again wrong.

As for the Chargers, it's not too late to discount them. They've definitely shown that they're more of a second half team. We still have a long season ahead.

The Mondays: My Birthday Post

HAPPY 22nd BIRTHDAY TO ME!

Okay, now that I got that out of the way. Here's what happened on Sunday:

Chicago Bears 48 - Detroit Lions 24- What better birthday gift could there be than a Bears victory? (For me at least)

Denver Broncos 17 - Dallas Cowboys 10- ROMO ALERT: Our namesake got sacked five times in yesterday's game. It's surprising to see the Broncos at 4-0 on the season. Can they finish the job though?

Cincinnati Bengals 23 - Cleveland Browns 20- This game was seconds away from being a tie.

Jacksonville Jaguars 37 - Tennessee Titans 17- Panic in the streets for Nashville? Not since 1983 have the Titans/Oilers started a season 0-4. And that was when they had Earl Campbell (granted near the end of his career). The Oilers that season went 2-14. I think the Titans will win more than two games, but 5-11 is starting to sound like a real possibility.

Miami Dolphins 38 - Buffalo Bills 10- I think I should have put the Bills in the Aztec Tomb...Chad Henne had an uneventful game. Instead, the props go to Ronnie Brown, who ran for two touchdowns.

New Orleans 24 - New York Jets 10- Are the Saints for real? At 4-0 it sounds like a real possibility. Anytime defense can score for you, it's always a good sign that you're a legit team on both sides of the ball. As for the Jets, well...you knew they had to lose at some point.

SUNDAY NIGHT RECAP: Pittsburgh Steelers 38 - San Diego Chargers 28- So the Steelers led 28-7 at the end of the third quarter. They should have this in the bag, right? Well, they didn't. A Jacob Hester returned a fumble for a touchdown, then Philip Rivers threw two touchdown passes to get the Chargers within seven points of the Steelers. Jeff Reed came through when needed though and put the Steelers ahead by 10 late.

Are the Steelers in trouble? They did get the win. They get Detroit next week. We'll see what happens. As for San Diego, they got close, but not close enough. Still, can we expect the Broncos to really hold on to that lead in the AFC West? The Chargers have a bye this week, but they get their first crack at Denver the week after.

MONDAY NIGHT PREDICTION: Honestly, I'm hoping for a 0-0 tie, but I know that will never happen. So, Packers 24- Vikings 23.

Tuesdays with Romo: Football won't be the same without Patrick Swayze...I think

New England Patriots 25 - Buffalo Bills 24- Two touchdowns late in the fourth quarter for the Patriots made the difference. Tom Brady didn't get hurt, so all is happy in the state of Massachusetts.

San Diego Chargers 24 - Oakland Raiders 20- This game felt like an eternity. It was hard to get excited. Thank goodness it is all over.

That is the week 1 though.

The Division Showdown: San Diego Chargers at Pittsburgh Steelers

San Diego Chargers at Pittsburgh Steelers- 4:45 PM ET on CBS

So it's on, the Chargers go back to Pittsburgh to face those Steelers. This is a rematch from week 11 of the season, when the Steelers won a close 11-10 game. Personally, I can't see this game finishing with that score.

The Chargers appeared to be out of the playoff hunt. They were 4-8 and had nothing to look forward to. However, the Chargers won four straight games, while the Broncos collapsed, thus leading to the Chargers getting into the playoffs at 8-8. Last week, the Chargers defeated the Colts in the Wild Card round to advance on and face the Steelers.

The key in this game for the Chargers is Philip Rivers. He has really shown a lot of promise as the Chargers quarterback. Rivers had a career year in 2008, throwing for 4009 yards and 34 touchdowns. Rivers had a quiet game against the Colts, but his task will be tougher against this Steelers defense.

This of course leads me to discuss the Steelers defense as the key for Pittsburgh. The Steelers D, led by James Harrison and Troy Polamalu, were the top dogs in the NFL this season. They are ranked first in points and yards. To say that they are just very good is an insult to Steelers fans everywhere. The Steelers D is the class of the NFL. All arguments about best defense stops in Pittsburgh.

Pick: I'm picking the Steelers and here's why...As of right now, LaDainian Tomlinson is doubtful for Sunday's game. Darren Sproles is a good player, but I can't see him doing very well against that Steelers D. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger should be feeling better and connecting with Hines Ward and Heath Miller. Willie Parker and Mewelde Moore will be vital in the running game for the Steelers. The Steelers will be firing on all cylinders Sunday.

The Mondays: Emotional day for Bryant

Week four saw many great moments. Some were good, some very emotional, some even surprising.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30 - Green Bay Packers 21- This day belonged to Bucs kicker Matt Bryant, who lost his infant son unexpectedly earlier last week. Bryant kicked three key field goals, including a 24-yard go-ahead in the fourth quarter to help the Bucs win. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Bryant. He goes out on Sunday and plays. Should he have stayed home? I don't know because it is not up to me. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bryant and his wife during these tough times.

Buffalo Bills 31 - St. Louis Rams 14- The Rams are falling apart. Even the Rams know that they are unraveling. The Rams actually led this game at halftime, but they were shut out in the second half. Meanwhile, the Bills are in good shape, despite two straight scares against the Raiders and the Rams. However, a win against Arizona next week will put the Bills at 5-0 for the season, going into the bye week.

San Diego 28 - Oakland Raiders 18- So...Is Lane Kiffen going to be fired now? I give the Raiders credit, they stuck with the Chargers. This team has a lot of potential, but we'll see what happens now. I don't think Al Davis will fire him. I could be senile with that thought.

Romo Alert: Washington Redskins 26 - Dallas Cowboys 24- Okay, even I admit that I never saw this coming. The big story has to be the defense on the Cowboys side. They couldn't stop Jason Campbell in the air and they couldn't stop Clinton Portis on the ground. Are teams starting to figure out the Cowboys defense?

Sunday Night Recap: Bears defeat Eagles- I never saw this coming either. This was a defensive battle, but the offenses weren't that bad. Kyle Orton threw three touchdown passes on Sunday night, which only happens once in a blue moon. The Bears are now tied for first in the North with the win.

Monday Night Prediction: Pittsburgh over Baltimore

Tuesdays with Romo: Chargers get win number one

The San Diego Chargers picked up their first win of the season, after losing their first two games by a combined three points. The Chargers took care of the Jets, winning the game 48-29.

Phillip Rivers had another fine performance for the Chargers. Rivers had three touchdown passes and 250 yards on the night. Rivers counterpart for the night, this quarterback named Brett Favre, threw for 271 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Favre completed 30 of 42 on the night.

LaDainian Tomlinson ran for 67 yards and two touchdowns.

The Mondays: Happy Jeff Pearlman Book Release Day

Ahh yes, it is another Monday. I'd like to send a friendly reminder to all of you bookworms out there that the new Jeff Pearlman book, Boys Will Be Boys, is being released (UPDATED, depends where I guess) tomorrow. Make sure you pick up your copy today, or tomorrow, or next week. Eventually I guess. Enough with the awkwardness, let's talk football!

Denver Broncos 39 - San Diego Chargers 38- Have you ever wanted to go for two points to win the game? Mike Shanahan did! The Broncos two pointer late in the game made the difference as they defeated the Chargers. Jay Cutler is starting to grow into a very good quarterback. He threw for 350 yards on Sunday, with four touchdowns. Phillip Rivers had a good game for the Chargers, throwing for 377 yards and three touchdowns.

Indianapolis Colts 18 - Minnesota Vikings 15- One of these two teams was going to finish Sunday with an 0-2 record. Peyton Manning wasn't about to allow that to happen. The Colts scored 18 unanswered points to beat the Vikings. Adam Vinatieri kicked a 47-yarder in the final seconds to clinch the game for the Colts. The Vikings did a good job shutting down the running game, giving up only 25 yards rushing. The Vikings could very well have won this game, but they didn't score any touchdowns, which hurt them in the long run. You can't win games only scoring field goals, especially against the Colts.

Oakland Raiders 23 - Kansas City Chiefs 8- In what could be Lane Kiffen's last game, the Raiders had their finest showing yet in the young coach's second season. Darren McFadden had 164 rushing yards on the day. He had one touchdown.

Sunday Night Recap: Pittsburgh Steelers 10 - Cleveland Browns 6- To be fair, it was very windy. Neither side was going to get the job done passing, even though Roethlisberger threw a touchdown pass. Willie Parker was able to run the ball better than Jamal Lewis did. Lewis has not been able to turn on the jets. He has only 62 yards rushing in two games this season.

Monday Night Prediction: Dallas edges out Philly 24-20

NFL Preview Show Extravaganza: San Diego Chargers

We're down to our final team in the AFC. We'll do a doubleheader of the Packers and Bucs on Friday. For now though, we wrap up the AFC West and the AFC with the San Diego Chargers.

The Chargers were the one team that really proved me wrong last year. I was waiting to see this team fall flat on their face and they never got around to it. Instead, the Chargers won the AFC West (easily) and knocked off Tennessee and Indianapolis to get all the way to the AFC Championship.

By far though, the Chargers win over the Colts was impressive in itself because they did it without LaDainian Tomlinson and Phillip Rivers. This team flat out refused to quit and it showed in the playoffs. In fact, the Chargers stuck with the Patriots up until the fourth quarter of the AFC Championship game. Can the 2008 Chargers have the same amount of success as the Chargers from 2007 and 2006?

One man who will be out on the field this Sunday when the Chargers play is linebacker Shawne Merriman. The Pro Bowl linebacker has two ligament tears. Merriman has sought several opinions and all recommend surgery. Why Merriman isn't opting for the surgery is a mystery. Your guess is just as good as mine at this point and time.

Merriman and the Chargers open up the 2008 season at home when they face the Carolina Panthers. At home, the Chargers will face New England, New York (Jets) and Atlanta. On the road, the Chargers will face Miami, Buffalo and New Orleans.

Just when you thought it was safe to come out of your home, Oh No Romo continues its look at the 2008 NFL Season. Yes, I did take a week off from the preview. Now with the NFL Draft over, I can give a better preview. I preview three games from each week However, I am back and today I will cover weeks seven and eight.

Week 7- Oct. 19- Oct. 20

Tennessee Titans at Kansas City Chiefs- Two potentially playoff teams go at it in this midseason game. If Larry Johnson is healthy, if Brodie Croyle is good, if the Chiefs are good, this will be a good game- 1 PM ET on CBS

Indianapolis Colts at Green Bay Packers- Two quarterbacks going face-to-face. It's Peyton Manning against Brett Favre's replacement, Aaron Rodgers. That's assuming that Favre is still retired by then- 4:15 PM ET on CBS

Seattle Seahawks at Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Matt Hasselbeck vs. Whoever the quarterback is for the Bucs at that time- 8:15 PM ET on NBC

Week 8- Oct. 26 & 27

San Diego Chargers at New Orleans Saints- Live from London- 1 PM ET on CBS

The Mondays: And Then There Were Four

Happy Monday to all, it is the one and only, partying it up with you guys on this Monday morning. We now have our final four. First though, we need to discuss the games from Sunday.

San Diego Chargers knock off Indianapolis Colts, 28-24- First of all, yes I called it, but I never saw this coming. I never anticipated the Chargers losing LT and Rivers and still have the chance to keep the Colts down.

Marvin Harrison looked awful in his return, but that's to be expected when you're out for three months. The Colts did everything they could to go out there and win, but it didn't happen. It seems like the Chargers have their number.

New York Giants defeat Dallas Cowboys, 21-17- Any negative things I said about the New York Giants, I would like the opportunity to take that back. This team came to play today, especially quarterback Eli Manning. Today, Manning threw two touchdown passes and no interceptions.

AFC Title Game

San Diego Chargers at New England Patriots, 3:30 ET on CBS- It's a week two rematch, who knows how this might go.

NFC Title Game

New York Giants at Green Bay Packers, 6:30 ET on Fox- This has the makings of a great game.

Happy Monday to everybody in the world of frilly things and weird stuff. We need to do a recap of an entire Sunday worth of football action. Can we do that? Pretty please!?!?!

• Rams pick up first win of the season, shock the Saints- I really wanted to pick the Rams to win this weekend and I didn't. Now, I look like a moron (I already did). Heck, Steven Jackson had a touchdown pass in the game. Congratulations to the Rams for their first win.
  
• Cowboys sweep the season series with Giants, win 31-20- ROMO ALERT: 20 for 28, 247 yards, four touchdowns.
  
• Bills keep the Dolphins winless- Take THAT Miami!!!!
  
• Bears win with Grossman, headline writer wants to cry- Rex Grossman came in and threw a touchdown pass. Now I've lost all hope for the season

Week four of the NFL season saw a lot of action and storylines.

• Kansas City Chiefs destroyed the San Diego Chargers in the fourth quarter- Hahahahahahahahaha. Sorry Charger fans, but your team sucks!
  
• Buffalo Bills defeat New York Jets, 17-14- A win for the Bills means a loss for the Jets.
  
• Indianapolis Colts defeat Denver Broncos, 38-20- Great game for Colts tight end Dallas Clark.
  
• Chicago Bears lose again, to the Lions- I don't want to talk about the game. I didn't even get a chance to see it. So instead I'll say GO CUBS!!!
  
• Oakland Raiders beat the Miami Dolphins- Hey great to see the Raiders in the mix.
  
• Arizona Cardinals shocked the Pittsburgh Steelers, 21-14- Okay, it might not be shocking, so to say, but hey Ken Whisenhunt got to stick it to his old team.
  
• ROMO ALERT: Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo leads the Cowboys to another victory, 35-7, over the St. Louis Rams. Romo scored four touchdowns total (three passing, one rushing). He also threw for 339 yards and is third in the NFL in passing yards.

Friday Brief's: Everybody's Working for the Weekend

Happy Friday, everybody.

It is time for those crazy NFL Picks. Last weekend, I went 3-2 and am now 10-5 on the year. I am still over .500, but I need to keep on going.

• Green Bay Packers over Minnesota Vikings- Brett Favre and his team of youngins are on fire at this point. Do not expect the Vikings to win, unless you are a poor Vikings fan.
  
• San Francisco 49ers over Seattle Seahawks- Yes the Niners don't have a great offense, but they're playing at home. It will be close, very close.
  
• Indianapolis Colts over Denver Broncos- It's Indy, at home, this is going to be fun fun fun. Still not convinced, let this change your mind.
  
• Carolina Panthers over Tampa Bay Buccaneers- David Carr, or Jake Delhomme? I think Delhomme starts and the Panthers win. If Carr starts, I might as well add a loss to the column.
  
• Kansas City Chiefs over San Diego Chargers- Hey somebody has to win. This game will be very painful to watch, and not because of Randy Cross.

The Monday's: Never Trust a Quarterback That Can't Grow a Beard

Well after last night's tirade, it's time for us to move on and talk about the rest of the NFL.

It's the right thing to do.

• Green Bay Packers defeat the San Diego Chargers, 31-24- Brett Favre is unstoppable. Is he even human anymore? I hate to say this, but *GULP* the Packers might win the NFC North.
  
• Indianapolis Colts defeated Houston Texans, 30-24- Imagine if the Texans had Andre Johnson to work with, oh how things would be better.
  
• Tampa Bay Buccaneers blew out the St. Louis Rams, 24-3- Jeff Garcia is certainly bringing the heat to the Bucs. Everything looks peachy in Tampa.
  
• Carolina Panthers defeated the Atlanta Falcons, 27-20- Another great start for the Panthers, maybe they make the playoffs.
  
• Both the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles both won on Sunday. I am looking forward to next Sunday night, it should be a great game.
  
• Monday Night Pick: Tennessee Titans over New Orleans Saints.
