Friday Briefs: Your Week 14 Picks
Tampa Bay over New York (Jets)- It's Tampa at home and Kellen Clemons starts for the Jets.
Cincinnati over Minnesota- The Bengals will be fighting for the second seed up until the end of the season. The loss to the Cardinals could mean the Vikings are hitting the wall.
Buffalo over Kansas City- Would you believe the Bills have scored three more points this season than the Chiefs?
San Diego Chargers over Dallas Cowboys- It is December, ya know!
Have a great weekend!

The Mondays: I like leading with Favre losing

Pittsburgh Steelers 27 - Minnesota Vikings 17- This was probably the only good day for me. The Steelers defense came through big with two turnover touchdowns. Keyaron Fox scored the touchdown to put the Vikings away for good. Like I said, only happy part of day for yours truly.
Cincinnati Bengals 45 - Chicago Bears 10- This was such a painful day for me. Cedric Benson got his revenge. So now the Bears are at 3-3. The Bengals are 5-2. Such a crazy world. That said, I think it's time to get rid of Ron Turner.
Indianapolis Colts 42 - St. Louis Rams 6- The Colts are undefeated, the Rams haven't won a game.
New England Patriots 35 - Tampa Bay Buccaneers 7- Really New England? Only 35 points? I was expecting 60 out of you guys.
New Orleans Saints 46 - Miami Dolphins 34- My pick went right for the first three quarters. Sure enough, everything would fall apart. A 22-point fourth quarter got New Orleans to 6-0. The Saints proved that they can be a true contender in the NFC.
Dallas Cowboys 37 - Atlanta Falcons 21- ROMO ALERT: The namesake completed 21-of-29 passes for 311 yards and three touchdowns.
SUNDAY NIGHT RECAP: Arizona Cardinals 24 - New York Giants 17- Cheer up Giants fans, at least the Yankees are in the World Series.
MONDAY NIGHT PREDICTION: Philly over Washington D.C.
Tuesday, October 6, 2009
Tuesdays with Romo: NO MORE FAVRE!
See you guys on Wednesday.
Monday, September 21, 2009
The Mondays: Somebody is 0-2 and it's not the Bears!
Houston Texans 34 - Tennessee Titans 31- It was a four touchdown day for Texans quarterback Matt Schaub. This is not a good start for the Titans. They get the Jets in the Meadowlands this weekend. Could the Titans go 0-3? Who knows!
New York Jets 16 - New England Patriots 9- MARK SANCHEZ IS 2-0! The Jets fans rejoice! Oh and Tom Brady has lost his first regular season game since Dec. 14, 2006. Quite a long time for sure...
Minnesota Vikings 27 - Detroit Lions 13- So it's 19 straight losses now for the Lions. The magic number is 26.
New Orleans Saints 44 - Philadelphia Eagles 22- Three touchdown passes for Drew Brees. That's nine touchdown passes in two games.
SUNDAY NIGHT RECAP: New York Giants 33 - Dallas Cowboys 31- Awful day for the namesake. Romo threw three picks. Eli Manning played terrific. He threw for 330 yards and two touchdowns.
Monday Night Pick: Indy over Miami.
See you guys Tuesday.

NFL Preview Show Extravaganza: Minnesota Vikings
Would Brett Favre really have made that much of a difference for the Vikings? Honestly, who gives a crap!? The Vikings have one of the top defenses in the NFL and without a doubt one of the best running backs in the league (Adrian Peterson).
The Vikings do have two quarterbacks (well three) to choose from. They could go with the incumbent of the trio, in Tarvaris Jackson. They have the newcomer, Sage Rosenfels, who came over in the offseason from Houston. They also have the guy who sits on the bench, I mean John David Booty. Jackson, Rosenfels and Booty all have their ups and downs to them, but are all three guys really that appealing?
In short no and to elaborate a little more...no. While it seems dumb that the Vikings attempted to "lure" Favre out of retirement, it's still a move the Vikings felt they had to make. The Packers have Aaron Rodgers, who is blooming into the position very nicely. And the Bears traded for Pro Bowler Jay Cutler.
Most likely, it will come down to Jackson and Rosenfels. Who will head coach Brad Childress go with though?
No doubt about it, Childress is under pressure to make the right choice. His job could very well be in jeopardy. We'll have to wait and see.
Time for those burnin' yearbook style questions:
Most Offensive Player (Offense MVP): Adrian Peterson
Most Defensive Player (Defense MVP): The Williams'
Best New Guy (Rookie of the Year): Phillip Loadholt (No really!)
Coolest Twitter Page: Visanthe Shiancoe
Team Song: Purple Rain by Prince
Coolest Names (Top 3): Visanthe Shiancoe, Phillip Loadholt and Chris Kluwe
Most Likely to Succeed (Team MVP): Adrian Peterson
In 2009, the Vikings will go: 8-8
Next head coach: Leslie Frazier
Tomorrow, we profile the Green Bay Packers!

Tuesdays with Romo: Vikings win close one
Minnesota Vikings 30 - New Orleans Saints 27- So, the Saints lost the game, despite two punt return touchdowns by Reggie Bush. Bush ran the first one back in the third quarter when he returned it for 71-yards. The second return came in the fourth quarter when Bush ran it back 64-yards to give the Saints a 27-20 lead with a little more than 10 minutes left in the game.
Vikings quarterback Gus Frerotte would tie the game when he threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Bernard Berrian. A Ryan Longwell field goal late in the game would give the Vikings the win.
Frerotte had one touchdown pass and 222 yards through the air. Saints quarterback Drew Brees threw for 330 yards and one touchdown in the loss.
Neither side was able to get the running game going. Adrian Peterson had 32 yards on 21 carries for the Vikings. Bush had 29 yards on 12 carries.

Friday Briefs: NFL Picks- Week 4
Tennessee over Minnesota- It makes perfect sense.
Denver over KC- Like KC has a chance?
Carolina over Atlanta- I like that the Falcons are 2-1, but the Panthers are a tough team.
Jacksonville over Houston- The Jags are back on track.
UPSET: San Francisco over New Orleans
Enjoy the weekend.

Hump Day: Losers Power Rankings: September 10, 2008

It's like what we did last year. For those who don't know, we choose the worst teams in football, instead of the best. Here is your top five for this week
- St. Louis Rams- They just got blown away against Philly. Steven Jackson might as well have been non-existent. The Rams need to get things on track or else they will stay at number one for a long while.
- Detroit Lions- They lost to the Atlanta Falcons, need I say more? Okay sure Jon Kitna had a good game, but it's not enough. They lost to a team that started a rookie at the quarterback.
- Oakland Raiders- They were awful on Monday night against the Broncos. The reason they are at number three is because of JaMarcus Russell's strong showing. The second year quarterback from LSU threw two touchdown passes in the losing effort. If the Raiders defense puts up more showings like that, they will hit number one in no time at all.
- Cincinnati Bengals- They have no defense and now it looks like they have no offense. Quarterback Carson Palmer was 10-of-25 for 99 yards and one interception. The Bengals had only eight first downs on Sunday.
- Minnesota Vikings- I don't know how long they'll be on this list for, but if they keep playing like they did on Monday night, they'll be there for a while.

Tuesdays with Romo: Rodgers wins, Jackson not so much
Rodgers completed 18-of-22 passes for 178 yards and one touchdown pass. I know it's not Brett Favre numbers. I really didn't think it was that big of an issue though. Rodgers didn't make a lot of mistakes. He had a far better night than Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson.
Jackson completed 16 out of 35 for 178 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
Vikings running back Adrian Peterson managed to run for 103 yards on 19 carries with one touchdown. Ryan Grant ran for 92 yards on 12 carries.

NFL Preview Show Extravaganza: Minnesota Vikings
Under current circumstances, I am holding off on doing the preview of the Green Bay Packers until things are settled. As of right now, I'm doing the other three teams in the NFC North. Today, I will focus on the Minnesota Vikings.
The Minnesota Vikings started the 2007 season with uncertainty at the quarterback position. By the end of the season, there was still uncertainty. Is Tarvaris Jackson the right fit for the Vikings offense.
Last season, Jackson threw for 1900 yards, nine touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Jackson played 12 games.
This season will be Jackson's third in the NFL. This team is stacked. They have a 1-2 running combo in Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor. A solid offensive line led by All-Pro's Matt Birk and Steve Hutchinson.
They also have an improving defense. When you add Jared Allen to the mix, you have something potent.
This is a make or break year for Jackson. If he has a successful year, Jackson will be the man behind center for years to come. If he doesn't then don't be surprised to see Gus Frerotte or rookie John David Booty take the snap.
The Vikings open up the regular season on the road against the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football (or Brett Favre lovefest). The Vikings have notable home games against Indianapolis, Carolina, New York (Giants) and Atlanta. They have notable road games against Tennessee, New Orleans and Arizona.
Time for those burnin' non-Brett Favre questions (yearbook style):
- Tarvaris Jackson will: Take strong steps, but won't be the best in the league
- Best receiver for the team: The running game
- Adrian Peterson will: Run for 1600 yards
- Chester Taylor will: Run for 1000 yards
- Best defensive player in 2008: Chad Greenway.....Nah it will be Ben Leber
- Brad Childress' best quality: His moustache (almost looks like Ron Howard if you squint)
- Coolest names (Top 3): Naufahu Tahi, Cullen Loeffler, Vinny Ciurciu
- 80s song to best describe team: I'm Alright- Kenny Loggins
- In 2008, the Vikings will: Win the division, at 10-6

The Monday's: Devin Hester is my hero
Nevermind that, let's recap Sunday's action:
- Minnesota Vikings defeat Chicago Bears, 31-28- Wow, what a game this was. The run defense was bad for the Bears, but you gotta love the Devin Hester punt return. Better yet, enjoy these Adrian Peterson highlights.
- New England Patriots defeat Dallas Cowboys, 48-27- Tom Brady has another big day. The Patriots appear unstoppable.
- Carolina Panthers shatter the dreams of Arizona Cardinals, win 25-10- WAY TO GO VINNY!!! Say what you want about Vinny Testaverde, but this could be a good thing for the Panthers.
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeat Tennessee Titans, 13-10- No Vince Young....It's the Tiki....I mean Madden Curse *Tiki sounds*. Oh well, let's show the highlights.
- Green Bay Packers defeat Washington Redskins, 17-14- Brett Favre broke the interception record, THIS WEEK, not last. I do apologize for the error.
- Sunday Night Football Recap: New Orleans Saints defeat Seattle Seahawks, 28-17- BOO-YAH! Congratulations on a win Saints. You now have more wins than the St. Louis Rams and the Miami Dolphins. For that, you too get a highlight.
- ROMO ALERT: Tony Romo threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns in the loss to the Patriots.
That's all, See ya

Friday Brief's: Everybody's Working for the Weekend
It is time for those crazy NFL Picks. Last weekend, I went 3-2 and am now 10-5 on the year. I am still over .500, but I need to keep on going.
- Green Bay Packers over Minnesota Vikings- Brett Favre and his team of youngins are on fire at this point. Do not expect the Vikings to win, unless you are a poor Vikings fan.
- San Francisco 49ers over Seattle Seahawks- Yes the Niners don't have a great offense, but they're playing at home. It will be close, very close.
- Indianapolis Colts over Denver Broncos- It's Indy, at home, this is going to be fun fun fun. Still not convinced, let this change your mind.
- Carolina Panthers over Tampa Bay Buccaneers- David Carr, or Jake Delhomme? I think Delhomme starts and the Panthers win. If Carr starts, I might as well add a loss to the column.
- Kansas City Chiefs over San Diego Chargers- Hey somebody has to win. This game will be very painful to watch, and not because of Randy Cross.
See ya

The Monday's: The Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings, led by second year Head Coach, Brad Childress, went 6-10 last season, finishing in third place.
The Vikings drafted Adrian Peterson with the seventh pick in this year's draft. They will play such teams as the Eagles, the Cowboys, the Raiders, the 49ers and the Falcons.
Let's do some questions (Yearbook style):
- Tarvaris Jackson will lead the League in: Most interceptions
- Adrian Peterson will: Not be the next Robert Smith, but will still be a stud for all defenses to deal with
- First thoughts of Brad Childress: That man has the best moustache in the NFL (Cowher retired, Fisher has a beard)
- In 2007, Brooks Bollinger will: Go into the Real Estate business (In other words, sell his home in Minnesota and go elsewhere to be a back-up player)
- Top three coolest names currently on team or trying out: Erasmus James, Aundrae Allison and Vinny Ciurciu (Kenechi Udeze receives honorable mention)
- In 2007, Chad Greenway will: Explode on to the scene and be one of the top LB's in the NFC North
- Chester Taylor will: Struggle whlie Peterson shines
- The 'Party Boat Scandal' is: Officially gone, but forever in our hearts
- Kiss song that best describes the team: Rock And Roll All Nite (And PARTEY EVEREE Day)
- In 2007, the Vikings will: Go 7-9 and miss the playoffs.
Check me out tomorrow as I preview the Green Bay Packers
Peace
