The Mondays: Somebody is 0-2 and it's not the Bears!

Chicago Bears 17 - Pittsburgh Steelers 14- A Robbie Gould field goal kept the Bears from going 0-2. Am I happy? You bet I am! Oh and no interceptions for Jay Cutler.

Houston Texans 34 - Tennessee Titans 31- It was a four touchdown day for Texans quarterback Matt Schaub. This is not a good start for the Titans. They get the Jets in the Meadowlands this weekend. Could the Titans go 0-3? Who knows!

New York Jets 16 - New England Patriots 9- MARK SANCHEZ IS 2-0! The Jets fans rejoice! Oh and Tom Brady has lost his first regular season game since Dec. 14, 2006. Quite a long time for sure...

Minnesota Vikings 27 - Detroit Lions 13- So it's 19 straight losses now for the Lions. The magic number is 26.

New Orleans Saints 44 - Philadelphia Eagles 22- Three touchdown passes for Drew Brees. That's nine touchdown passes in two games.

SUNDAY NIGHT RECAP: New York Giants 33 - Dallas Cowboys 31- Awful day for the namesake. Romo threw three picks. Eli Manning played terrific. He threw for 330 yards and two touchdowns.

Monday Night Pick: Indy over Miami.

NFL Preview Show Extravaganza: Houston Texans

As mentioned before, I plan on keeping the previews short, due to the season coming up very soon. So we'll do two previews today and two over the weekend to take care of the AFC South. First up, the Texans.

The Mondays: Jason Elam likes to win

Atlanta Falcons 22 - Chicago Bears 20- This was a great game from start to finish. In the end, the Falcons came out on top. Falcons kicker Jason Elam kicked a 48-yard field goal, as time expired, to win the game. Elam missed a 33-yarder two minutes earlier, which gave the ball back to the Bears. After the Kyle Orton touchdown pass to Rashied Davis with 11 seconds left in the game, it looked to be all but over for the Falcons. Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan threw a 26-yard pass to Michael Jenkins with one second left on the clock. Jenkins landed out of bounds with possession. The play led to the Elam field goal. Elam made 5-of-6 field goals on Sunday. Ryan threw for 300 yards for the first time in his NFL career. No doubt this is a huge win for the Falcons. The NFC South is turning into a very tough division. Things are looking up for the NFC South.

Houston Texans 29 - Miami Dolphins 28- A three yard draw by Texans quarterback Matt Schaub made the ultimate difference in the game. Schaub went for it on fourth down and got in for the score. Meanwhile, Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter isn't happy about a blown call by referee Ed Hochuli. The popular ref seems to be having some bad string of luck this season. It's hard to say what's wrong with him. Hopefully he can get back on track, because right now, no team wants to play while Hochuli is reffing.

St. Louis Rams 19 - Washington Redskins 17- A Josh Brown 49-yard field goal gave the Rams their first win of the season. Brown made four field goals on the day. In a way, Sunday was a day for field goal kickers.

Romo Alert: Arizona Cardinals defeat Dallas Cowboys in overtime- The man formerly known as Antonio threw for three touchdowns today, but it wasn't enough to stop the Cardinals.

Sunday Night Recap: San Diego Chargers 30 - New England Patriots 10- Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers had a huge night, last night. Rivers threw for 300 yards and three touchdowns. He had a quarterback rating of 141.9. The big question is, how far will the Patriots fall?

Hump Day: The Loser Rankings- October 8, 2008

So the Loser Rankings decided to take a bye week last week. That is how bad things are right now. Sure I'm probably overreacting, but that's not the point. The point is that there is no point.

1. Detroit Lions- This team is indeed the worst in football. How does a defense give up 334 yards passing from Kyle Orton. Nothing against Orton (I'm a fan of the neckbeard), but when the Bears pass for 300 yards on you, you know you suck.
   
   
2. St. Louis Rams- Scott Linehan is gone, but don't expect the Rams to leave the Losers Rankings anytime soon.
   
   
3. Cincinnati Bengals- They came close to winning last week, but sadly they stay in the top five.
   
   
4. Houston Texans- This is such a good team and they came oh so close to defeating the Colts on Sunday. Unfortunately, it didn't happen. I hope the Texans don't stay in the top five for
   too long. They're too good of a team to be 0-4.
   
   
5. Kansas City Chiefs- It should be the Raiders in the top five, but the Chiefs won the tiebreaker because they lost to Oakland.

NFL Picks: Week 1

The 2008 NFL season starts today (at 1 p.m. ET to be exact). We've missed it and we're ready for more football action. Without further ado, time for my picks for week 1.

1. Philadelphia over St. Louis- The Eagles should be ready to go. Sure they don't have Kevin Curtis, but I can't see St. Louis winning on the road.
   
   
2. Jacksonville over Tennessee- Great division game to start the season. I know the Titans have done well against the Jags, but I think things should be different this time around.
   
   
3. New Orleans over Tampa Bay- This seems like a no-brainer to me because the Saints are a much better team than the Bucs. The Saints will be back in the saddle again, to quote Aerosmith.
   
   
4. New York (Jets) over Miami- Miami is coming off of a 1-15 season, need I say more?
   
   
5. Upset Pick: Houston over Pittsburgh- The Texans showed a lot of promise last season. This year could very well be their breakout year and it all starts in Pittsburgh.

NFL Preview Show Extravaganza: Houston Texans

Today, our preview show party takes us down to the city of Houston, which is home to this team called the Texans.

First off, my condolences goes out to the family of receiver Harry Williams. He suffered a spine injury over the weekend in a preseason game and from the sounds of it, his career is over. It's always tragic to see a player's career get cut short. We ask that you keep Williams in your thoughts.

Now, it's time to get down to business.

The Texans were without a doubt in the world, the worst team in the AFC South last season. I'm not saying that to be mean or anything, that's how the standings played out last season. The Texans finished the 2007 season with a record of 8-8. It was their best season in the six year history of the Texans.

With Matt Schaub and Sage Rosenfels under center, the Texans had their best offensive seasons yet, just missing out on being in the top 10 for many offensive categories.

When Schaub went down, Rosenfels stepped in and shined brightly for the Texans. The 29-year-old started five games, winning four of them. Meanwhile, Schaub threw for 2200 yards and nine touchdowns in 11 games. Both of these quarterbacks are talented. While some teams struggle to find a quarterback, the Texans are in good shape.

The Texans open the 2008 season on the road when they face the Pittsburgh Steelers. At home, the Texans will face Baltimore, Miami, Detroit and Chicago. On the road, the Texans will face Minnesota, Cleveland and Green Bay.

The Monday's: Never Trust a Quarterback That Can't Grow a Beard

Well after last night's tirade, it's time for us to move on and talk about the rest of the NFL.

It's the right thing to do.

• Green Bay Packers defeat the San Diego Chargers, 31-24- Brett Favre is unstoppable. Is he even human anymore? I hate to say this, but *GULP* the Packers might win the NFC North.
  
• Indianapolis Colts defeated Houston Texans, 30-24- Imagine if the Texans had Andre Johnson to work with, oh how things would be better.
  
• Tampa Bay Buccaneers blew out the St. Louis Rams, 24-3- Jeff Garcia is certainly bringing the heat to the Bucs. Everything looks peachy in Tampa.
  
• Carolina Panthers defeated the Atlanta Falcons, 27-20- Another great start for the Panthers, maybe they make the playoffs.
  
• Both the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles both won on Sunday. I am looking forward to next Sunday night, it should be a great game.
  
• Monday Night Pick: Tennessee Titans over New Orleans Saints.

The Monday's: Matt Schaub Rules

Oh the excitement of week two in the NFL. The Plethora of storylines should keep you guys satisfied.


Here are the storylines from Week 2.

• Houston Texans defeated the Carolina Panthers, 34-21- How about Matt Schaub, two touchdown passes and 228 yards passing. How about Andre Johnson, seven catches, 120 yards and two touchdowns. This team might surprise a lot of people come playoff time. Their next test will come against Indy at home, do I smell an upset?
  


• Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the New Orleans Saints, 31-14- The Saints knocked me out of a Survival Pool. Thanks guys.
  


• Arizona Cardinals defeated the Seattle Seahawks, 23-20- This is a joke, right?
  


• Green Bay Packers destroyed the New York Giants, 35-14- I'm not a Brett Favre fan or a Packers fan, but Favre is certainly a winner.
  


• ROMO ALERT: Tony Romo threw for 186 yards and two touchdowns in a 37-20 victory over the Miami Dolphins.
  


• Monday Night Pick: Washington Redskins over Philadelphia Eagles.

Thursdays: Houston Texans

Let's finish up the AFC South preview and talk about the Texans.

The Texans finished in last place, winning six games and losing 10. This year, they drafted DT Amobi Okoye out of Louisville, in the first round. They will be playing the Chiefs, the Broncos, the Raiders and the Saints.
