Hump Day: Some early December Loser Rankings

1. Cleveland Browns- They just keep falling apart. They're the lowest scoring team out of all the 1-10 teams. But the worst news for the Browns has to be the loss of Shaun Rogers for the season. He was probably their only star. Things just look awful for Cleveland. I am still interested in the Browns GM position (hint drop).

2. St. Louis Rams- The Rams actually had a decent shot against the Seahawks, but it didn't work out. The good news for them is that they get a freefalling Chicago Bears team.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- I hate putting this team at #3 because they've been playing great football as of late. Josh Freeman is probably blooming flower for the Bucs. He has 793 yards passing, along with seven TD passes in five games this season. I hope he can keep this up, because Tampa needs something to look forward to.

4. Detroit Lions- Just wasn't meant to be their season. It happens you know!

5. Oakland Raiders- They're the lowest scoring team in the NFL. How can the Raiders not be on this list?

Hump Day: A Fresh Batch of Loser Rankings

1. Cleveland Browns- This might be the only team in the league that hasn't shown any signs of improvement over the course of the season. There is some good news (and there isn't any car insurance involved). The Browns get to face our #2 team on this list on Sunday.

2. Detroit Lions- Matthew Stafford hasn't had a lot of luck this season. In seven games this season, he's completed six touchdown passes and thrown 12 interceptions. But then again, it's the Lions and there isn't a lot of talent on the team outside of Calvin Johnson. The good news for the Lions is that they get to face the Browns this week.

3. Oakland Raiders- They did lose to the Chiefs this week. Could the JaMarcus Russell era be over in Oakland? With two touchdown passes and nine interceptions, it looks like Bruce Gradkowski could get his shot at the starting job. But then again, it's the Raiders. Either way, we'll find out later this afternoon.

4. St. Louis Rams- I hate putting this team at #4, especially after how well they played against the New Orleans Saints. Unfortunately, they're the lowest scoring team in the NFC. That said, the Rams are still playing some great football. They get Arizona at home this Sunday.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- This is another team playing great football right now. They won against the Packers and almost beat the Dolphins. Josh Freeman has thrown for four touchdown passes and 401 yards in two starts this season.

Hump Day: Your Loser Rankings for First Week of November

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- They're the only NFL team without a win this season. They get Green Bay this week. Josh Freeman makes his first NFL start this Sunday. Maybe he can get Tampa their first win too.

2. Cleveland Browns- They got rid of GM George Kokinis. That said, I announced on Twitter that I was interested in the GM position. I still am Mr. Lerner. I have qualifications...Okay maybe not, but still, I can't do any worse than before.

3. St. Louis Rams- I knew they would win at some point. Every team has to win. The Lions did it earlier this year and now the Rams are in the win column.

4. Detroit Lions- The Lions find themselves back on the list. The honeymoon is over. You guys are 1-6.

5. Kansas City Chiefs- The Chiefs won a spot over the Titans this week because the Titans won over Jacksonville.

The season standings are put off until the end of the season, when we declare our winner...I mean loser.

Hump Day: Week 7 Loser Rankings

1. St. Louis Rams- So I have no idea when the Rams will win a game again. Maybe they can win against Detroit this week.

2. Tennessee Titans- Well the Titans didn't lose this week...but they didn't win either.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- They couldn't strike it big in England. The good news for Tampa is that they won't be playing this weekend. This gives Tampa time to get Josh Freeman ready to start against Green Bay.

4. Cleveland Browns- Things are just flat out awful in Cleveland. Can things get any worse?

5. Washington Redskins- The picture says it all. Monday's game was just ugly. The turnovers were uglier. Let's face it, there is no alibi for this team.

The Mondays: The Browns and Panthers finally win a game

Cleveland Browns 6 - Buffalo Bills 3- Who would have thought that Billy Cundiff and Rian Lindell would have been the leading scorers today...Then again, who would have thought that Derek Anderson could have a 2-for-17 passing day? Sadly the truth is, there are no winners.

Carolina Panthers 20 - Washington Redskins 17- The Redskins might be the biggest headscratcher in the NFL. They lost to the Lions and now the Panthers. This post from DC Sports Bog should say it all about Jim Zorn and how he's viewed in the media right now.

Cincinnati Bengals 17 - Baltimore Ravens 14- So the Bengals are in first place in the AFC North. I said they'd go 5-11. They're now 4-1 and they get Houston at home this upcoming week. Guess who's eating his words...? In case you didn't figure out, yeah I mean me. The Bengals have played terrific football this season. There's no reason why the Bengals can't make a statement and get to the playoffs.

Seattle Seahawks 41 - Jacksonville Jaguars 0- Great day for Matt Hasselbeck as he threw four touchdown passes.

Dallas Cowboys 26 - Kansas City (Dallas Texans) Chiefs 20- ROMO ALERT: Our namesake threw for 351 yards and two touchdowns. Oh and 250 of those yards belong to Miles Austin. He scored two touchdowns, including the game winner in overtime.

Denver Broncos 20 - New England Patriots 17- Looks like Josh McDaniels isn't getting a Christmas card from Bill Belichick anytime soon. More importantly, the Broncos, led by Kyle Orton, are 5-0. Not since the '98 season have the Broncos started 5-0.

SUNDAY NIGHT RECAP: Indianapolis Colts 31 - Tennessee Titans 9- So, umm, the Titans don't look very good. They're 0-5 and face New England this week. Oh and you don't want to face Bill Belichick after a loss. The Titans could go 0-6 heading into the bye week. The odds just aren't good in Tennessee.

Hump Day: The Loser Rankings- The Aztec Tomb Edition

So here we are with another day for the Losers. However, this week, we're doing something different. We're going to take a look at all the teams that are currently 0-3. Is there hope still or should these teams just jump in the Aztec Tomb. Who's first!?

Miami Dolphins- So the Dolphins have no Chad Pennington for the season and their new starting quarterback is Chad Henne. But wait, the Dolphins traded for Tyler Thigpen on Tuesday.

The Dolphins are in the middle of the pack when it comes to offense and defense ranks. They have back-to-back home games. If the Dolphins split those games, they'll be 1-4 going into the bye week. The remaining non-division schedule includes Pittsburgh and New Orleans. However, the Dolphins also have games against other 0-3 teams like the Bucs, Titans and Panthers.

Verdict: I don't see the Dolphins making the playoffs, but they will win six games. So no tomb for the Dolphins.

Cleveland Browns- Derek Anderson or Brady Quinn? The problem for this team goes much deeper than the quarterback controversy. They're at the bottom of the NFL in offense and 30th defense. Things have gone from bad to worse. The Mangini Magic is not working. They have Cincy this week. The Browns have Green Bay, Chicago and San Diego still on the schedule.

Verdict: Get in the tomb! The Browns will go 2-14.

St. Louis Rams- The Rams are averaging 8 points per game. Steve Spagnulo probably should have held out for a better job. But it is what it is. They get San Francisco and Minnesota next. They have Indy, Chicago and New Orleans still left in their non-division schedule.

Verdict: Rams will go 1-15. I think it's safe for them to get in the tomb.

Tennessee Titans- All three of the Titans losses were by a combined 13 points. They've kept it close, but not close enough. Good news though Titans fans, they face Jacksonville on Sunday. New England and San Diego are on the schedule, as well as the Rams and the Dolphins.

Verdict: This might be the best 0-3 team out of the entire group. They won't win 13 games, but they still have a shot at .500. They do have the ability to go 9-7.

Kansas City Chiefs- They lost to the Raiders, which was their only winnable game. They also lost to Baltimore and Philadelphia (granted it was against Kevin Kolb). They have the Giants and the Cowboys for their next two games. The division isn't very strong (do you really think the Broncos are good enough to win the division?).

Verdict: Todd Haley will be lucky to win seven games for the Chiefs. I see them going 6-10, but no Aztec Box.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Josh Johnson starts on Sunday for the Bucs. There isn't a lot of bright spots for this team. They have Washington and Philly next. They still have the Jets and Patriots.

Verdict: 4-12, go ahead and get in the Aztec Tomb.

Carolina Panthers: Where do I begin? I have no idea what to think about this team. They should be good, but they're not...It's a bye for the Panthers this week (and it comes at a great time). They have Miami, Buffalo, Minnesota and both New York teams. It just doesn't look that good.

Verdict: 5-11, 6-10 sounds possible. I don't see it being any worse than 3-13 though.

I'll have a Loser Ranking next week for sure though.

The Loser Rankings: Week 2

1. St. Louis Rams- They lost 9-7 to a Washington. They've also been outscored 37-7 in two games. Things don't look very good.

2. Detroit Lions- 19 straight! My offer still stands Lions. If you win one game, you're off the list for sure by the next week.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars- Is the end drawing near for head coach Jack Del Rio? It's a road game this week, but maybe Jacksonville fans would prefer that the game was blacked out.

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Central Florida is in for a long, long year.

5. Cleveland Browns- They did lose to the Broncos, ya know!

So many teams could be in the top five. Next week, we bring out the Aztec Tomb, for those teams that will start the season 0-3.

The Loser Rankings: Electic Boogaloo Edition

So it's a new season, and we take a look at the worst teams after week 1. Don't read too much into the first couple of weeks of the Rankings. Please keep that in mind.


1. St. Louis Rams- They went 2-14 last season and they got shut out in an ugly game against division foe Seattle Seahawks. Things aren't looking good for the Rams this season.

2. Detroit Lions- The Lions have lost 18 straight games, dating back to the 2007 season. It makes sense that they'd be on this list.

3. Buffalo Bills- It was an ugly preseason for the Bills. And while they were leading on Monday night against the Patriots, they couldn't close the game out. This will not be a pretty season.

4. Cincinnati Bengals- I'll let this play say my thoughts about the Bengals at four.

5. Cleveland Browns- They hung in there with the Vikings for a half. Then Adrian Peterson ran them over.

We now look at the other two teams in the AFC North. They would be the ones that didn't make the playoffs. Today, we focus on the Browns.

Hump Day: The Losers Rankings- September 24, 2008

Week three has officially come and gone. It's safe to say that we are well underway in this the 2008 regular season.

1. Detroit Lions- If there had to be one team that would knock off the St. Louis Rams, it would have to be the team from Detroit. The Lions are just flat out awful. Now, all eyes are on Matt Millen and the others in management. By the way, check out this interesting find from the Detroit Free Press. It's a top 10 list on the players Millen passed on.

2. St. Louis Rams- Guess who is the lowest scoring team in the NFL? That's right! The Rams have the worst offense in the NFL, scoring just 29 points in three games. The Rams are benching Marc Bulger and going with Trent Green.

3. Kansas City Chiefs- The teams from Missouri aren't doing very good. Is it time to panic? This blogger says...yes. Now it seems as though the Chiefs are going back to Damon Huard. Maybe KC will look into getting Tim Tebow.

4. Cincinnati Bengals- The Bengals are still doing bad. Things could get worse.

5. Cleveland Browns- So we have a team that almost made the playoffs in the top five of our list. Cleveland's biggest issue is the running game, or lack thereof. Jamal Lewis has carried the ball 44 times in three games for only 156 yards and zero touchdowns.

The Mondays: Happy Jeff Pearlman Book Release Day

Ahh yes, it is another Monday. I'd like to send a friendly reminder to all of you bookworms out there that the new Jeff Pearlman book, Boys Will Be Boys, is being released (UPDATED, depends where I guess) tomorrow. Make sure you pick up your copy today, or tomorrow, or next week. Eventually I guess. Enough with the awkwardness, let's talk football!

Denver Broncos 39 - San Diego Chargers 38- Have you ever wanted to go for two points to win the game? Mike Shanahan did! The Broncos two pointer late in the game made the difference as they defeated the Chargers. Jay Cutler is starting to grow into a very good quarterback. He threw for 350 yards on Sunday, with four touchdowns. Phillip Rivers had a good game for the Chargers, throwing for 377 yards and three touchdowns.

Indianapolis Colts 18 - Minnesota Vikings 15- One of these two teams was going to finish Sunday with an 0-2 record. Peyton Manning wasn't about to allow that to happen. The Colts scored 18 unanswered points to beat the Vikings. Adam Vinatieri kicked a 47-yarder in the final seconds to clinch the game for the Colts. The Vikings did a good job shutting down the running game, giving up only 25 yards rushing. The Vikings could very well have won this game, but they didn't score any touchdowns, which hurt them in the long run. You can't win games only scoring field goals, especially against the Colts.

Oakland Raiders 23 - Kansas City Chiefs 8- In what could be Lane Kiffen's last game, the Raiders had their finest showing yet in the young coach's second season. Darren McFadden had 164 rushing yards on the day. He had one touchdown.

Sunday Night Recap: Pittsburgh Steelers 10 - Cleveland Browns 6- To be fair, it was very windy. Neither side was going to get the job done passing, even though Roethlisberger threw a touchdown pass. Willie Parker was able to run the ball better than Jamal Lewis did. Lewis has not been able to turn on the jets. He has only 62 yards rushing in two games this season.

Monday Night Prediction: Dallas edges out Philly 24-20

NFL Preview Show Extravaganza: Cleveland Browns

As we continue our profile of the AFC, we now turn our attention to the AFC North. First up for the week is the Cleveland Browns.

Derek Anderson or Brady Quinn, that is the question that will need to be answered in the near future. After the Browns benched Charlie Frye and ultimately traded him, it was Derek Anderson's opportunity to shine in 2007.

No doubt about it, Anderson had a breakout year in 2007. In 16 games, Anderson threw for almost 3800 yards. He also added in 29 touchdowns. Anderson was also sacked only 14 times in 2007. In one game at quarterback, Charlie Frye was sacked five times. More impressive, Anderson won 10 games as Browns quarterback, just missing out on the playoffs.

The Browns also have Brady Quinn, who is a year younger than Anderson. Quinn was drafted late in the first round of the 2007 draft. Quinn was hyped as the leader, the face of the franchise.

This leaves Cleveland in a bit of a pickle. Do you go with the future in Quinn, or do you go with the current starter, Anderson. Odds are, the Browns will go with the hot hand as well they should. Anderson has a chance to really be a star in the NFL, even if it's not in Cleveland.

The Browns open up the 2008 regular season at home against a tough Dallas Cowboys team. No doubt, a win during kickoff weekend would be a huge boost for these Browns. At home, the Browns will face Houston, Indianapolis and New York (Giants). On the road, the Browns will face Philly, Washington and Tennessee.

Hump Day: THE NEW SCHEDULES ARE HERE, THE NEW SCHEDULES ARE HERE!!!!!!

This is the happiest day of the year here at Oh No Romo! It is the day that the schedule for the 2008 NFL season comes out. I am ecstatic and thrilled.

Instead of posting the entire schedule here, I'll give you three games to watch for each week of the year. That would be a total of 51 games to watch for this season. I'll do the first two weeks today. Then the next two weeks will be on Friday and I'll continue from there.

Week 1

Washington Redskins at New York Giants- The Super Bowl champs open at home against a division foe- September 4 on NBC at 7 PM ET

Houston Texans at Pittsburgh Steelers- A tough test for the Texans on the road. A win at Heinz Field would be a great way to kick of the Texans season- September 7 on CBS at 1 PM ET

Dallas Cowboys at Cleveland Browns- The Browns open their 2008 campaign at home against the defending NFC East champion Cowboys. It's a great early test for both teams and we'll see who starts the season 1-0- September 7 on FOX at 4:15 PM ET

Week 2

Buffalo Bills at Jacksonville Jaguars- This should be a classic- September 14 on CBS at 1 PM ET

Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns- Two AFC North foes are going at it on Sunday Night Football. My how sweet it is! - September 14 on NBC at 8:15 PM ET

Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys- Two NFC East rivals going at it on Monday Night. Let the Romo Love Fest begin.

Friday Briefs: Rhodes highest paid Safety in NFL

Happy Friday to all! It's the end of the week and I am back in business, baby! It's game time!

Rhodes signs 33.5 million extension from Jets- New York safety Kerry Rhodes signed a 5-year $33.5 million dollar extension on Thursday, making him the highest paid safety in the league. In three seasons with the Jets, Rhodes has recorded 213 tackles, eight sacks and 10 interceptions- New York Times

Another Bears linebacker wanting money situation???- The Bears are $16 million under the salary cap and Brian Urlacher wants a new contract. Urlacher didn't show up for the start of voluntary work outs. He's making close to $4 million this season (just like last season) and he is signed through 2011. A training camp holdout seems unlikely. This is certainly not the last you'll hear of the Urlacher contract situation- Chicago Tribune

Hobson signs with Patriots- Former Jet linebacker Victor Hobson signed a one year contract with the New England Patriots on Monday. Hobson had 48 tackles for the Jets last season- New York Daily News

First Post in Almost a Month

Yeah I know, it has been a long while since I made my last post. Well, I have a little bit more free time to work with, especially with the NFL draft coming up in a few weeks. Here's some headlines for you fine folks out there.

Dolphins doing talks with Jake Long???- If things are correct, it seems like Long will be in Miami. So much for Matt Ryan going #1- Miami Herald

Bills Everett gets surgery to relieve pain in the neck- Everett had minor surgery on Monday to relieve the pain in his neck from a severe spinal cord injury he had in week one of the 2007 NFL season- NFL.com

Savage close to deal with Browns- Cleveland GM Phil Savage is close to a new contract extension. Savage's contract is set to expire in 2009- ESPN.com

Johnson ready to go for 2008- Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson is ready to go for the 2008 season and believes that he will have a strong year. Johnson was plagued for a good part of the 2007 season with a back injury- The Detroit News

The Mondays: WHAT DID I SAY?!?!?!?

Happy Monday to everybody. Another week of NFL action has come and left us behind. Now, we will do what we usually do and that's.....you know.......recap.....

• ROMO ALERT: Dallas Cowboys defeat Philadelphia Eagles, 38-17- Romo had a terrific game, completing 20 of 25 passes for three touchdowns and one interception.
  
• Green Bay Packers defeat Kansas City Chiefs, 33-22- The Packers look like the real deal at this point. They'll face a real tough test in the Cowboys, very soon.

Rams get Jackson Back For Sunday

As the St. Louis Rams prepare to take on the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, their star running back Steven Jackson is expected to play.

The news could not come at a better time for the Rams as they have started the regular season 0-7 for the first time in team history.

Jackson has been dealing with a groin injury for over a month and has missed the last four games. On the season, Jackson has rushed only 69 times for 233 yards and zero touchdowns.

An Offensive Offense

If the Rams are to win this Sunday against the Browns, they need to start scoring again. The Rams have the worst offense in the, scoring 11 points per game.

It’s a great opportunity for the Rams because the Browns have the third worse scoring defense in the NFL, giving up 30 points per game. The Browns run defense is just as bad. They’ve given up 150 yards per game; the only team’s that are worse are the Miami Dolphins and the Denver Broncos. The Browns have also given up 450 yards per game, worst in the NFL.

If the Rams are to win pick up their first win of the season, this week is the week.

A High Scoring Affair?

Although the Browns have a terrible defense, their offense is fourth in the NFL in scoring, with 28 points per game. They are also seventh in total yards per game and eighth in passing yards per game. The Rams defense will have to step it up. The Rams have given up more than 27 points per game this season, among the worst in the NFL.

Claude Terrell Released

The Rams released guard Claude Terrell from the team on Tuesday after he was arrested earlier in the day for assaulting his wife at a Hampton Inn in the town of Webster, Texas.

Terrell was already in trouble after arguing with Rams head coach Scott Linehan last week, causing Linehan to lecture the rest of his players, last Thursday.

Terrell was a fourth round pick for the Rams in 2005. No word yet on any suspension for Terrell.

A Blackout in St. Louis?

The Rams face a possible local blackout on Sunday due to a shortage of tickets sold. There are still 2,900 tickets available for the game on Sunday. According to NFL rules, the Rams need to sell all tickets 72 hours before kickoff, or noon on Thursday. (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)

Friday Briefs: The Late Edition

Happy Friday everybody! It's cold and dreary here, just like my NFL picks have gone lately. Thankfully though I went 3-2, last week and 3-2 the week before. The season record currently stands at 16-9.

Let's get picking:

• Philadelphia Eagles over New York Jets- I can't think of any good reason right now, so I'll just show this.
  
• Cleveland Browns over Miami Dolphins- I'm not sold on Cleo Lemon.
  
• Washington Redskins over Green Bay Packers- This one might give me some scrutiny. For that I say, Plunger Nipples.
  
• New England Patriots over Dallas Cowboys- Sorry Namesake!
  
• Oakland Raiders over San Diego Chargers- I am STILL not sold on the Chargers. It's like the Kool-Aid Man against Mr. Peanut. I pick Mr. Peanut.
