Tuesdays with Romo: Dolphins win time of possession, but lose game

Indianapolis Colts 27 - Miami Dolphins 23- So the Dolphins had the ball for 45 minutes on Monday night. That's three total quarters for those of you that are not good with mathematics.

Such a long time to have the ball if you ask me. But shouldn't the Dolphins have won the game by like 50? The Colts official time of possession was 14:53. That's seven seconds away from having a full quarter of possession.

The defense should have folded up like a chair from fatigue. The Colts defense somehow managed to survive though.

The game was pretty much back and forth all night. Peyton Manning threw the go-ahead touchdown to rookie Pierre Garcon (The Escargot), a total of 48-yards.

So now the Colts are 2-0 and the Dolphins are 0-2. Manning and the Colts take the road show to Arizona on Sunday night for a showdown with the Cardinals and their own Antique Roadshow, Kurt Warner.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins will travel to San Diego to face the Chargers. If the Dolphins lose in San Diego, they're 0-3. If the "fluke" word isn't coming up now, it will be following the Chargers game on Sunday.

NFL Preview Show Extravaganza: Indianapolis Colts

We're more than half way done with the AFC in our preview of all 32 teams. This week, our attention turns to the AFC South. Today, we focus on the farthest Northern team in the South, the Indianapolis Colts.

When the Colts won Super Bowl XLI, it took a lot of pressure off of Colts quarterback, Peyton Manning. He had finally won the championship that has been missing in his hall-of-fame (or so I think) career.

With a title under their belt, the Colts were now on the same level as Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

In 2007, the Colts didn't let up, going 13-3 and clinching the AFC South. It was the Colts sixth straight season of at least 10 wins, all during Tony Dungy's reign as head coach.

Not only were the Colts strong on the offensive side of the ball, but their defense played tough too. For the first time in 40 years, the Colts were a top-5 offense and defense. The Colts gave up the fewest points in 2007, giving up only 262 points. The defense was also second best in the league in giving up passing yards.

If it wasn't for the Patriots season, no doubt people would be talking about how great the Colts were on both sides of the football.

Then came the San Diego Chargers in the divisional round of the playoffs. In what might be one of the best playoff games ever, the Chargers and the Colts battled it out for all four quarters. The Chargers would win the game with LT and Phillip Rivers on the sideline. Manning had 400 yards passing in the loss.

What can be said about the playoff loss, I don't know. We've seen Manning perform in the playoffs before. The Colts were tough on both sides of the ball. They brought in Adam Vinatieri a couple of seasons ago to solve the kicking issue. Plus, LT was out virtually the entire game and Rivers didn't leave the game until late in the 3rd quarter. The odds were definitely in the Colts favor.

Are the Colts starting to lose their luster? It is certainly possible given that the Colts won their Super Bowl.

Plus, you have to factor in the division. The Colts have been the only division winner in AFC South history. However, Jacksonville and Tennessee are starting to make names for themselves and are ready to compete with the Colts. You could also make a case for the Texans, given that they finished the 2007 season in last place, at 8-8.

At this point, anything is possible for the Colts.

The Colts open up the 2008 regular season on Sunday Night Football. They face the Chicago Bears. The Colts will be playing their first game in Lucas Oil Stadium. At their new home, the Colts will face, Baltimore, New England and Cincy. On the road, the Colts will face Pittsburgh, San Diego and Minnesota.

Thursdays: Doing Week 15

Greetings everybody! It's Thursday, yes I know it is. I'm so happy and thrilled to be giving you this opportunity to look at week 15 of the 2008 NFL season. I'll finish out the series tomorrow, with weeks 16 and 17. Sorry, no playoffs for you. I can't predict the future that fast.

Week 15- Dec. 11, 14 & 15

New Orleans Saints at Chicago Bears- The Bears/Saints rivalry has become a new rivalry to pop up on the NFL radar. We saw these two teams clash in the NFC Title game in 2007 and last year, the two battled it out. Now we reach this point at week 15 and the Saints already have a playoff spot wrapped up, or are still fighting for one. It will be interesting to see if the Saints are still fighting for a playoff spot, will the Bears play a spoiler?- 8:15 PM ET on NFL Network

Green Bay Packers at Jacksonville Jaguars- I hope the Jags are thanking the NFL Gods right now. It's not a fun time playing December football in Lambeau Field- 1 PM ET on FOX

Detroit Lions at Indianapolis Colts- Ohhh boy! Peyton Manning is going to have a field day passing against that Detroit secondary.

Friday Briefs: More Scheduling

Happy Friday to all who like Fridays (which is everybody if I'm not mistaken). We continue to take another look at the 17 week season that is, NFL 2008 FUNKYFEST! I finally came up with a creative name to call this season. As usual, I have to go with "funk." I'm legally insane like that. Today, we will cover weeks nine and ten (Yay I don't have to spell out my numbers now!)

Week 9- Nov. 2 & 3

New England Patriots at Indianapolis Colts- Believe it or not, these two teams could be undefeated by the time this game is played. Another clash between two marquee quarterbacks and their teams. The Brady-Manning debate will be revived, if only for another seaso.......I mean week- 8:15 PM ET on NBC

Philadelphia Eagles at Seattle Seahawks- Student against teacher as Andy Reid takes the Eagles to the Northwest to face his mentor Mike Holmgren once more- 4:15 PM ET on FOX

Green Bay Packers at Tennessee Titans- *NAMED QUARTERBACK* will take the Packers into Nashville to take on Vince Young and the Titans. This will be a good test for Young, who will be going up against a tough defense- 1 PM ET on FOX

Week 10- Thurs. Nov. 6, 9 & 10

Denver Broncos at Cleveland Browns- The first NFL Network regular season game of the year that I will not be watching because of the cable package I have- 8:15 PM ET on NFL Network

Cincinnati Bengals at Houston Texans- With another year under Gary Kubiak for the Texans offense, this game could be a large scoring game- 1 PM ET on CBS

Buffalo Bills at New England Patriots- How many points will the Pats put up this time?- 1 PM ET on FOX

Tuesday with Romo: The NFL Preview Show Extravaganza: Indianapolis Colts

Here at ONROMO, we are HUGE football fans. We believe that football makes the world go round, helps lead to world peace and brings puppies to everybody (ok maybe not the last two, but you get the point).

To honor the great football season arriving, we are doing a report on all 32 teams. No it won't be anything like you see anywhere else. We here at Oh No Romo have our own ways of breaking down the regular season.

First up is the defending Super Bowl Champion, Indianapolis Colts.

The Colts finished the year 12-4, winning the AFC South. They defeated the Chicago Bears (sniffle) at Super Bowl XLI.

They get to play New England, San Diego, Denver, New Orleans and Baltimore this year. They open up against the Saints. They drafted Anthony Gonzalez out of THE Ohio State University, in the first round.
